Rodney came home this morning with a whole eight-pound octopus. Elise – who has never met a weird seafood dish that she did not love with all her heart – proclaimed this was the best day ever.
As I have mentioned before, we live in a town with large Portuguese and Italian populations, so octopus is on the menu at many restaurants here. We order it all the time. But I am not sure how we are going to cook this one (and what we should do with the head).
We think we are going to boil it until the skin cracks, then put it in an ice bath to cool it off, then grill it. Beyond that, I am not sure.
If anyone out there has a recipe for octopus that they love, please send it my way!
