Jobless claims mapped and adjusted for population

This is such a stunning graphic. Man, I feel sorry for folks in Kentucky, with 286 job losses per 1,000 people. I can’t even process that intellectually.

Another 3 million jobless claims are estimated for tomorrow’s release, along with an unemployment rate that will be one of the highest in US history.

And as I predicted weeks ago, a lot of those furloughs are now being transitioned to permanent layoffs as the lockdowns in some places continue without an end in sight.
